Board Game Reviewer Explains Dice Rolling in 4 Levels of DifficultyShelfside's professional board game reviewers sit down to explain how dice rolling works to 4 people of different expertise. Tabletop games use dice and randomness as a gameplay mechanism all the time. Every single card game that has shuffling and drawing cards is an example, or board games like Monopoly or Catan. But the ways that randomness is used has varying levels of nuance to it, and so in this video we're going to break down the concept of RNG so that you'll understand it no matter what level of board game player you are. Why do board game reviewers have such influence on the buyers and how we can learn to separate the bias we see in games as personal tastes which may differ from different reviewers and buyers. Being aware of the issues that come with a board game review including how the board game was acquired, the reviewer's personal tastes as well as what their preferences are is important to assess. Board Game YoutubersBoard games have been around for a while, much longer than us, and so we're going to delve deep into the youtube landscape and our history with the board gamers on it. Ashton definitely has much more nostalgia and street cred when it comes to tabletop youtubers though since he watched a bunch of them while growing up. Wil Wheaton's Tabletop really left an impact on him and led to him delving deeper and discovering creators like Tom Vasel from The Dice Tower, and even Shut Up & Sit Down while they were still on Vimeo. On top of all that he frequented boardgamegeek and r/boardgames, so he was really on top of new releases back in the day. We probably would've never gotten into board games if weren't for Tabletop, The Dice Tower, SU&SD and the like, and so in this video we're taking a deeper look at where we come from as well as the current youtube landscape pertaining to board games. Classics like Catan and Pandemic are giving way to new titans like Gloomhaven, Wingspan, and Root, and the board game selection of today is absolutely incredible. Here's to the new generation! And don't worry, we got a huge review and a special video coming soon! Patreon: Purchase Games We’ve Reviewed! No One Is Buying Positive Board Game ReviewsBoardGameCo Patreon - patreon.com/boardgameco Every now and then people like a game that others feel they just shouldn't....and the comments begin. The game is too simple, reviewers like it too much, they clearly haven't even played the game....the reviews must be bought and paid for. There's no way that's happening. I'm not arguing for the moral integrity of myself or others....I'm just saying it makes no sense if you think about it for more than 10 seconds.
