Deus Ex is, without a doubt, one of the most influential gaming titles. During a time when first-person games were heavily focused on combat, Deus Ex shook the world with its seamless fusion of role-playing, shooter and adventure game genres. It also paved way to new approaches to video game storytelling, letting players tackle challenges in multiple ways and drastically changing the course of each plot.

Unzip the files into your "system" folder from the previous step, launch the game through Deus Exe/Kentie's Launcher, set renderer as "Direct 3D 10 Support"

Enabling Classic Lighting (Highly recommended)
Press T on your keyboard while ingame, erase "say" and type "preferences" then hit enter. A window full of options will open up, click "rendering" then "Direct3D 10 Support". Find the box that says "Classic Lighting" and change the option from "False" to "True", then click out of the window. Your game should revert back to Ion Storm's original lighting engine.

The world of Deus Ex features a cyberpunk universe that draws heavily upon present day conspiracy theories. These include the Illuminati, Majestic 12, and Knights Templar conspiracy theories, as well as the existence of grays and the supposed secret research that takes place at Area 51. Whilst all Deus Ex titles have distinct settings and story lines, together they explore the methods used by the world's elite to control and manipulate society.
The world of Deus Ex does not significantly differ from the real world until the 20th century. Technologies that currently do not exist appear in the Deus Ex universe, such as human augmentations, artificial intelligence, and transgenics.

The TimeLine is based solely on the dates mentioned by the creators of the universe in various interviews, various documents, and information found in the original source.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is a cyberpunk-themed action RPG game in the Deus Ex series. It was developed by Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix. It is a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which takes place before the events of Deus Ex. Mankind Divided was released for Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One on 23 August 2016. Feral Interactive brought the game to macOS and Linux. The Linux version arrived on 3 November 2016,[1] with the macOS version following on 12 December 2017.[2]

Adam Jensen returns as the protagonist for this installment of the series. He obtains several new augmentations in Mankind Divided. Like its predecessors, the game places emphasis on player choice and freedom.

Mankind Divided is set in the autumn[3] of 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution, which culminated in the Aug Incident when Hugh Darrow hijacked the biochip signal. As a result of Darrow's signal broadcast, augmented people across the world were forced to violently attack those around them until the signal was shut down by Adam Jensen. In the aftermath of the Aug Incident, the public is outraged and begins aggressively opposing mechanical augmentation. This results in a divided world, where mechanically augmented humans are forcibly separated from non-augmented ones.

By 2029, Jensen now works for the Interpol-funded Task Force 29 (TF29), an international unit that deals with augmented terrorists that have sprung up after the Aug Incident. However, Jensen's allegiance is split between Task Force 29 and the Juggernaut Collective, a hacker group devoted to opposing the Illuminati. The Juggernaut Collective seeks to investigate the Illuminati's influence in the Central European Division of TF29, a unit based in Prague and led by branch director Jim Miller. As told in the novel Deus Ex: Black Light, Jensen had decided to collaborate with the Juggernaut Collective towards the common goal of bringing down the Illuminati.

Deus Ex is a cyberpunk-themed action-role playing video game — combining first-person shooter, stealth and role-playing elements — developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive in 2000. First published for personal computers running Windows, Deus Ex was later ported to Macintosh systems, as well as the PlayStation 2 game console. Set in a dystopian world during the year 2052, the central plot follows rookie United Nations Anti-Terrorist Coalition agent JC Denton, as he sets out to combat terrorist forces, which have become increasingly prevalent in a world slipping ever further into chaos. As the plot unfolds, Denton becomes entangled in a deep and ancient conspiracy, encountering organizations such as Majestic 12, the Illuminati, and the Hong Kong Triads throughout his journey.

The game received universal critical and industry acclaim, including repeatedly being named "Best PC Game of All Time" in PC Gamer's "Top 100 PC Games" (last in 2011) and in a poll carried out by UK gaming magazine PC Zone. It was a frequent candidate for and winner of Game of the Year awards, drawing praise for its pioneering designs in player choice and multiple narrative paths. It has sold more than 1 million copies, as of April 23, 2009. The game has spawned both a sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War (released in December 2003, for both Microsoft Windows and the Xbox video game console), and a prequel, Deus Ex: Human Revolution (released in August 2011).

For my first entry in a series of short, admittedly lower effort game recommendations, I can't think of a better candidate than the original Deus Ex. To this day, when somebody asks you what an immersive sim is, this is the game you should point to. Every little detail is important, and every decision is impactful. You guys gotta get this one.

Gaming’s perpetual window to the future, the Deus Ex franchise, has long been regarded as one of the most innovative series ever created. From JC Denton to Adam Jensen, we’re looking back at 15 years of Deus Ex with a unique animated trailer, recreating some of the most iconic scenes from the series. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released on February 23rd, 2016 on Xbox One.

Again, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is by no means a perfect game. There are a few flaws with both the narrative and the gameplay, but in the face of what it does right – these shortcomings are minor nuisances.

That being said, Human Revolution can still be enjoyed in its original form – which can be attributed to a strong understanding of the game’s core values and how they should be evolved to better suit a newer audience. Two mainline entries and a decade later, Deus Ex’s current identity can be traced back to the framework and the mechanics featured in Human Revolution.

What awaits the future of the franchise is uncertain, but what can be pieced from this narrative is that the confidence with which the developer rewrote the playbook for the franchise is what most importantly, makes Deus Ex: Human Revolution one hell of a game.
