Let's show you how to unlock locked games on your PS4 that you have the licenses for.

In this video, I walk you through the steps to unlock locked games on your PS4. First, the padlock symbol only appears on downloaded games. So the game is locked if your PS4 cannot verify that you are the owner of the game and have the license. So ensure that you are connected to the internet so that verification can be made. Another way is to ensure that the user account you're on is set as the Primary PS4. Another method is to restore licenses. To do this go to Settings, Account Management, and click on Restore Licenses. The last method is to view the status of the Playstation Network Services. To do this, go to Settings, Network, and then View Status of PNS.

In this 4 Ways to UNLOCK your LOCKED PS4 GAMES and Apps PS4 Tutorial, I am going to show you the best ways to fix your LOCKED PS4 games. It can be frustrating logging into your PS4 and finding your digital games you bought with a locked symbol on them.

The first step to try is restarting your PS4 and logging into the primary account on the PS4 with PS Plus. Then go to the network setting and view playstation services to verify playstation network is up and running. Next go to account management and activate as your primary PS4. If you already have your PS4 activated as primary, deactivate your ps4 as primary and then reactive your PS4 as primary.

This will fix most issues your will be having. However, if that didn't help, try going to restore licensing. This will restore all the licensing you have purchased from digital content on the playstation store.

My PS4 game is locked!

Are you getting the error that it cannot start the application because it only works for those with a license?

I believe that’s the error.

Log out, reboot it, log back in and click on the game, even if the lock icon is there. It may still come up and the lock will disappear.

If that would have worked, it would have worked by now.

Sometimes you have to delete the game and re-download it.

Already tried that.

Go to the settings, PSN, restore licenses and try to restore the licenses. You may have to log out and back in after that for the settings to go into effect.

I’ve heard that all the digital content requires you to be logged in to PSN to access movies and games.

True. If you are not logged in as yourself and sometimes if logged in as someone else, you won’t be able to access your content.

I was starting to wonder if the PS4 was bricked.

You run into problems if you do not register the new hard drive as your primary when you get a new one, because the digital library gets locked too. In that case, all the old content is locked because it does not recognize your rights to it.

That’s quite a challenge, because you can only deactivate directly from the console, though if you have already dumped it, you can fill out the console deactivation web form.

At least you’ll be able to then access your content on your new console once they essentially brick the old one. However, you may be able to go into the new PS4 and make it the primary and go too.

I know, go to settings, PSN, make primary. This does not help me though, because this is my one and only console, though I’m almost frustrated enough to get an Xbox One.

You could see games and content locked if the Sony servers are down, though it is more common to get a connection error.

I know you get all kinds of errors if the servers are down; pity they do not reboot them often enough.

If you re-downloaded the game or changed the console to your primary, try rebooting it, just in case. And if you activated it as your primary, you’ll have to go back and restore the licenses.

And probably reboot again, just to be sure. This is starting to sound like Xbox One technical support.

You’re the one who threatened to go retro with the Xbox. One of the last things I’d check is account activity to make sure your account does not show that you have not paid for the content, just in case that’s why it is locked.

I probably need to make sure someone else did not log in as me and download the same games too, just in case that’s why it is locked.

If they get your credit score too, that’s punishment enough.
