Picking up where Golden Sun kinda left off (right before the final Saturos and Menardi fight), follow Felix and his crew as he continues to light the lighthouses.

This game is no different from the first one aside from more awesome music and Item-dependent classes. Djinn amount increased (maximum one can hold is now 9). Oh, and the password system. -_-

For this longplay...or something...I just go through the game while (in no particular order): spamming Djinn kills (even on bosses except for Dullahan. It is full of troll and I hate strategizing.), spamming menu to set Djinn, spamming Avoid, even if I am not at a high level to avoid the encounters, trying to get as many hidden goodies as possible (when I felt like it since there's junk like Antidotes and Elixirs later in the game), get all Djinn, rearrange Djinn for different classes, getting lost in areas, spamming soft reset on Sunshine and Lemuria Lucky Fountain (Excalibur is FUN to watch when I have to reset 15 or so times, which is edited out.) and not using different characters later in the game (mainly used Felix, Jenna, Isaac, and Sheba.), all while playing with NO skills (I was out of hard drive space to dump the game while playing and I want to Djinn kill!). Many fights are fought because I HAVE to get EXP somehow, yes? (and it IS a longplay, right? RIGHT? ;)) I hardly use a character's default class since I already played through this game MANY times in it (no Odyssey awesomeness, though it is only used ONCE!). Doing this made me realize that Jenna kicks all kinds of ass in an offensive class (Ninja and Swordsman). I don't show any RNG shenanigans to get things like Riot Gloves or Mythril Silver. I didn't get the Vault thieves fight because I didn't talk to the Mayor after completion.

I just realized that this game is REALLY pretty for a GBA game. -

Pokemon Golden Sun Description: There is a new region called Gold Islands. One of the greatest trainers in the world is living here. You are a new comer who have just moved from Johto. When coming to the Inner Forest, you meet a member of the Elite Four. He tells you that there is an evil team that trying to catch the greatest Pokemon so that they can open the gate to a hidden world. To defeat them, you must collect all 6 badges and enter the Pokemon League. From this point, you will receive this mission and officially start your Pokemon journey. You go to visit the Mango Town, meet an old friend there and get a lot of stuffs. Will you prevent that evil ambition?

What is there to say about Golden Sun that you haven't heard before?

It has a compelling story, astounding music, a fun battle system that features a neat Djinn system -- using Djinni will alter your characters' classes mid-battle and let you cast cool summons -- cute artwork, and gorgeous graphics on an actual GBA. Yeah, it looks pretty bad on a Game Boy Player, which is what I'm using here, but even through an emulator there's still something missing. You really have to play it on the GBA screen to truly appreciate how the game was meant to look. Golden Sun is a JRPG that features a crap ton of puzzles. Besides pushing logs around, you always have to use Psynergy (magic) to change the environment, such as making plants grow or freezing water to create pillars of ice. None of them are particularly difficult to figure out, but the entire game is based on them.

Djinni are Pokémon-looking creatures that come in one of four elements. They are scattered across the world and you need to find them to gain new abilities and become stronger. Sometimes you'll fight them before they join you. You can mix and match the Djinni to change your characters' classes and gain new spells, but ultimately I saw little reason to do so even though I tried for quite a while!

One of the first game's criticisms is that it doesn't end. It's essentially just a part 1 of 2. Everything comes together in the second game, and if you play the first one, I don't see why you wouldn't play the second one. I called Isaac "Zupsi" in this playthrough and was made fun of quite a bit for that, but hey, it has charm, doesn't it? Too bad I couldn't change the names of Garet, Ivan and Mia! There are a few permanent missables in the game but nothing that's super important. In any case, I made sure I got them all.

Golden Sun is a classic.
