It will only play DVD's, nothing else in the drive. The system itself works great otherwise though.

Just a quick video showing you how I got this ps3 slim to read discs again without replacing the laser. Before the disc was spinning but it wouldn't read blu ray or dvd .

PLEASE NOTE THIS ONLY WORKS FOR CERTAIN PEOPL
•Step #1 Insert the disc you want to play.
•Step #2 When you hear the weired noise the ps3 is making use a second disc and simply stick in just slightly.

This will work for about 70% of you out there. If your dvd game or movie is not scratched, damaged, not reading or freezes then try this simple method people have been doing since the start of cd's.

UPDATE: Use a soft towel instead of news paper, because the metal clips can scratch the cd from the back and destroy the data

* this is the same method the machine: Jfj Easy Pro are using, we are just doing it manuel in the hand and not with the machine

This guide is a 3 step CD + DVD + Game repair guide for removing scratches:
1: check the scratchtes
2: Surface Smothing / grinding
3: Polishing

Make sure to polish it, so it shines and so its like a mirror. if its mat the lazer cannot read the data on the cd

Follow the guide in this video carefully and take care when working with the cd, by not damageing the data, then you can fix / repair a scratched CD, DVD or Game by your self.

Disc Reading Error? The Disc Can Not Be Read? The Disc is Unreadable? How to Repair a Scratched Game Disc?

For all the questions above it's said there's a way to solve and the disc may be restored. The most common trick for restoring a disc it's with toothpaste, so I tried it.

You could fix hundreds of CD/DVDs/WII/PS2/PS3/PS4/PS5 Game disks with the above items. You could learn to do this for a profit. If you follow my directions you should be able to fix any scratched disk as long as its not deeper then the plastic.

So, I made an experiment on running PS3 game backups on DVD-R dual layer. I have some of DVD-R DL discs that are kept inside my drawer and these DVD-R DL discs were bought from ebay and imported from Japan years ago. Apparently, HEN exploit allows user to run burned PS3 game backups directly without needing to install additional exploit PKG file like discPKG that had been done for years. There are many steps needed to be taken in order to run the DVD-burned PS3 game backups although PS3 game backup ISOs are not optimized for DVD dual-layer and pretty hard to make PS3 trying to replicate what Xbox 360 does with its DVD-format game disc entirely.

I'm using GT5 Prologue game as an example and the first step is dump the game from its original game disc into JB folder format. Then, convert the JB folder format into ISO file back via PS3 ISO Tools v2.2 and burned the ISO file with IMGBurn. Everything seems ok when HEN exploit detects the DVD-burned PS3 game backups as game disc and launched successfully, except one thing - slow ass game data installation where it took much longer than running on original BD-ROM game disc but managed to finished up the game data installation with successfully. I'm also testing other games such as GRID 2 and certain games that boots up directly such as NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) but the results were pretty different.

Running GRID 2 on DVD will ended up being stuck at 40% while hearing the laser head clicking noise meanwhile running NFS Hot Pursuit (2010) on DVD will ended up pretty sluggish, maybe because my DVD burner is not fast enough to burn the ISO file or something else. During the experiment, I'm using DVD-R Dual-layer, not the DVD+R Dual Layer, there's a much differences on these 2 DVD formats. However, you can try it with DVD+R Dual-Layer and before burning, make sure that the PS3 game ISO does not exceeds 8.5GB and delete existing game data first before running it. Also, please note that not all PS3 games that can be run from DVD-R discs.

No fancy devices here other than a 4K television display and as well as an AV receiver. Pay close attention, as your using your av receiver as a video upscaler here and depending on the quality of your receiver and connections you will have a much better looking picture then normally just using your TV. You must have an HDMI 1.4 be cable minimum to utilize this as with all 4K devices and content how do I commend using an HDMI 2.0 cable. I'm using all audioquest cables, KEF speakers bi amped and bi wired from the same receiver. As opposed to the 2 channel room shown at the end where bi amping required 2 separate amplifiers. You can make sure that you are using all devices and 4K by simply pressing display either on your TV or on your AV receiver and of course stream any services in full 4K I will do a entire video devoted to Dolby Vision at some point also comparing 4K being upscaled and up converted to a traditional ultra high definition Blu-ray disc as well as 4K content streaming from Netflix Vudu and other services.
