This is a playthrough of Sonic Lost World on the Nintendo Wii U.

Lost World's one of the weaker entries in the series in my eyes. The parkour is really fiddly and even once I'd learnt how to use it properly it still didn't feel fun in the slightest.

The game's (mostly) technically sound and the performance remains consistent, but it mostly feels uninspired, sticking to overly simple Mario-esque aesthetics and bland level design philosophies. There are some areas where you can build up a satisfying sense of speed by making use of the spin dash and spin boost but they're few and far between, and on the whole speed feels arbitary rather than a reward for solid gameplay.

This video shows the Wii U version at 1080p/60fps. I have since played the PC version which feels like a low-effort port.

One of the more infamous modern Sonic games alongside the likes of '06, Rise of Lyric was developed by Big Red Button and released in 2014 to coincide with the Sonic Boom cartoon series.

Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is an action-adventure video game developed by Big Red Button and published by Sega for the Wii U console. Along with Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal for the Nintendo 3DS, the game is a spin-off of Sega's Sonic the Hedgehog series and is a part of the Sonic Boom franchise, which also consists of an animated television series (whose games serve as prequel), a comic series by Archie Comics, and a toyline by Tomy.

The two games together formed the third and final part in Sega's exclusivity agreement with Nintendo, following Sonic Lost World and Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games in 2013. Both games were released in North America, Europe, and Australia in November 2014, and in Japan the following month. The game was retitled as Sonic Toon: Ancient Treasure for its Japanese release.

Rise of Lyric was met with very negative reception from critics, where it was heavily criticized for its numerous glitches, camera system, controls, combat, story, dialogue, and character development. The game did not perform well commercially, with the combined sales of Rise of Lyric and Shattered Crystal totaling 620,000 copies by May 2015.

From The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD to Splatoon, the Wii U has a lot of games that are still worth playing. Let's take a look at the top 10 Wii U games!

Among standouts like The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD and Super Mario Maker, the Wii U has lesser known gems such as Affordable Space Adventures and NES Remix Pack. While a lot of games like MArio Kart 8 got ported to Switch, there is still plenty of reasons to pick up a Wii U today, including Xenoblade Chronicles X, a game that has never left the console. This list doesn't include virtual console or Wii games, as that would be a separate list entirely!
